About

Adrienne Bitar, PhD, is a food studies expert, author, and lecturer whose scholarship examines food history, diet culture, and women's bone health. She is a regular media guest expert and public speaker to media outlets such as the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, NPR, CNN, and PBS on diet, food, and health. She earned her BA from UC Berkeley (summa cum laude) and PhD from Stanford University. She served as a Visiting Scholar in Food Studies, Nutrition, and Public Health at New York University and as a Postdoctoral Fellow and Lecturer in the College of Arts and Sciences at Cornell University.

She is the author of Diet and the Disease of Civilization (Rutgers University Press: 2018), a cultural history of American diet.
